A Short Series Of Investing & Finance Haikus
Filed under: Inspiration
A few years ago I worked in customer service for an upscale clothing goods store. It was a relatively new store and wasn’t terribly busy yet. One night a co-worker and I were extremely bored with absolutely nothing to do so we invented a game. We took alternating turns writing relevant and insulting Haikus about each other in an intense freestyle haiku battle. After a few hours of this, I had gotten a lot of practice forming the 5-7-5 syllable structure of Haikus and later expanded them on various subjects. I love them for their short, to the point, subtle, yet direct style. For your entertainment here is a short series of Haikus I’ve written about investing and finance. Enjoy!

You have poetry talent to go along with your financial savvy. There is a bit of wisdom in each one of your haiku poems. I especially like the one about spending time with friends and family as a wise investment. When you need a shoulder to cry on or someone to share fun times, a stock investment just doesn’t do it.

This is my favorite post of yours regarding investing. I also think it’s, perhaps, the most didactic of all your stocks and/or life related posts. Clearly, the best one is the one that begins, “invest more than funds” because it does what a haiku should do–it expresses a great deal with very few words, and finds a way to be bigger than it really is. “Best investment yet.”
