Deadline for Roth IRA Contributions 2007
The new year has come and I am reminded of a financial deadline that I should make sure you’re aware of. Just wanted to put a reminder out there that it is NOT too late to contribute your maximum (currently $4000 per year) amount to your Roth IRA tax sheltered account. It is time for new beginnings but it is not time to forget about your financial health. As long as you specify with your broker, anything you put into your Roth IRA until April 15th (tax day) will still count for your 2007 contribution! Remember: once you miss the final deadline, you can never put that $4,000 dollars in. You can only add to this year’s (2008) contribution. If you’ve already maxed out your Roth IRA for 2007 that’s great! Keep up the good work. If you need help getting started with a Roth IRA you might want to consider reading my Do It Yourself Roth post with full instructions on how to do it. It’s one of the smartest moves you can make as a younger person. Let your money do the work for you now, instead of having to work harder for it later!
